Review: Tales of Eternia Remastered (PS5) - Classic PlayStation RPG Shows Its Age
Bandai Namco is continuing to bring classic Tales games to modern platforms following the success of Tales of Arise in 2021. Tales of Eternia Remastered is now available on PS5, joining other recent ports including Tales of Graces f, Tales of Xillia, and Tales of Berseria, which have generally held up well during the transition to current-generation hardware.
However, Tales of Eternia appears to show more noticeable signs of age compared to its counterparts in the remaster lineup. The remaster campaign reflects Bandai Namco’s effort to capitalize on renewed interest in the Tales franchise, providing both longtime fans and new audiences with access to earlier entries in the long-running JRPG series.
This selective approach to remastering older titles demonstrates an acknowledgment that different entries in the Tales franchise have aged at different rates, with some titles maintaining stronger appeal on modern platforms than others.
