I asked for this Teams feature years ago, and Microsoft finally delivered
Microsoft Teams is introducing a new feature that will allow users to share videos directly from OneDrive during calls and meetings. This capability addresses a long-standing limitation in the platform, where video sharing previously required either screen sharing or embedding videos in PowerPoint presentations.
The current workarounds come with significant drawbacks. Screen sharing reduces video quality for attendees, while embedding videos in PowerPoint requires additional preparation and effort. The new direct OneDrive integration promises to deliver high-quality video streaming with a smoother, more streamlined experience for both presenters and meeting participants.
The feature was announced through the Microsoft 365 Message Center, indicating it is in active development and will be rolling out in the coming months. This update represents a direct response to user feedback and addresses a commonly cited pain point for Teams users who frequently share video content during meetings and presentations. The improvement aligns with Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to enhance Teams’ capabilities for content sharing and collaboration.
