Ubisoft Plans About 100 Cuts Across German Studios

Ubisoft has announced plans for voluntary departures at its German studios, potentially affecting approximately 100 roles across its Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Mainz facilities. According to reports, the Düsseldorf studio will see more than half of the proposed cuts. The company is offering buyout packages to encourage voluntary departures rather than forced layoffs.

The moves come as part of broader restructuring efforts at the company. Discussions between Ubisoft and the Works Council—a union-like representative body for German workers—have begun to address the proposed voluntary departure program. While Ubisoft has not confirmed the final scope of the cuts, the buyout terms are still being negotiated.

This restructuring effort is part of a larger trend of workforce reductions at Ubisoft. The company previously announced the closure of RedLynx, its Finland-based development studio, and Ubisoft Singapore has also been undergoing significant downsizing. These moves appear to be part of a company-wide cost reduction initiative across multiple regions and studios.
