Minecraft’s Verity Is A Top Trending Halloween Costume For 2026
Google’s Halloween 2026 trending costumes list, the “Frightgeist,” has revealed that Minecraft’s Verity ranks among the top costume inspirations. The web series character, created by ThatMob, secured the No. 7 spot based on Google search trend data.
Verity is a horror web series set within Minecraft that features a character with a smiling face that becomes increasingly unhinged throughout the narrative. The series has gained enough cultural traction to appear on a major trending list alongside other viral horror content. Los Angeles residents showed the highest search interest in the costume, according to Google’s data.
The Frightgeist list showcases the year’s most-searched costume inspirations, with the top spot claimed by Buddy the Unicorn from director Casper Kelly’s horror movie. The character Nikki from Curry Barker’s viral horror hit “Obsession” also appears on the list.
The inclusion of Verity on the trending costumes list reflects the growing influence of internet-based content and gaming culture on mainstream Halloween trends. Web series and gaming-related costumes are increasingly competing with traditional entertainment properties for popularity during the holiday season. The ranking underscores how online horror content, particularly that within gaming environments, has captured the imagination of audiences seeking costume inspiration.
It’s worth noting that the Verity costume trend refers specifically to the Minecraft web series character, not the recent Anne Hathaway film of the same name.
