New Xbox Nano Controller is designed for “younger players, smaller hands, or anyone seeking something portable”

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Nano Controller, a pocket-sized alternative to its existing controller lineup. Priced at $49.99 USD (£45), the Nano represents the company’s smallest controller offering to date, measuring just over 5 inches in length and weighing only 3.5 ounces—making it significantly lighter and more compact than both the standard Xbox Wireless Controller and the premium Xbox Elite Series controller.

The controller is specifically designed for “younger players, smaller hands, or anyone seeking something portable for play on the go,” according to Microsoft. Despite its compact form factor, it retains all 18 gameplay buttons found on standard Xbox controllers, ensuring players won’t sacrifice functionality for portability. The Nano supports both Xbox’s proprietary wireless connection and Bluetooth, allowing it to connect to Xbox consoles, PCs, Android devices, and iOS devices.

Like modern gaming peripherals, the Nano comes with a rechargeable battery charged via USB-C, eliminating the need for disposable batteries. It also features a programmable action button, adding a degree of customization. Pre-orders have already opened for the device, and Microsoft has partnered with Samsung to offer a bundle package, though details on the collaboration remain limited.

The Nano controller fits into Microsoft’s expanding hardware ecosystem, positioned between the standard Xbox Wireless Controller ($64.99) and the premium Xbox Elite Series controller ($149.99), offering an affordable option that prioritizes portability and accessibility for a broader audience.
