New Xbox Nano Controller is designed for “younger players, smaller hands, or anyone seeking something portable”

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Nano Controller, a pocket-sized gamepad designed for portability and accessibility. Priced at $49.99, the Nano is the smallest controller Microsoft has ever released, measuring just over five inches in length and weighing only 3.5 ounces—significantly smaller and lighter than the standard Xbox Wireless Controller (6 inches, ~10 ounces) and Elite Wireless Controller (6 inches, ~12 ounces).

Despite its compact form factor, the Nano retains all 18 gameplay buttons found on standard Xbox controllers, ensuring familiarity for players transitioning from larger devices. The controller features Xbox Wireless connectivity for direct console connection, plus Bluetooth support for pairing with Android and iOS mobile devices, Windows PCs, and select smart TVs. A key distinction from the standard Xbox Wireless Controller is the Nano’s rechargeable battery, charged via USB-C, along with a programmable action button for customization.

Microsoft positions the Nano Controller specifically for “younger players, smaller hands, or anyone seeking something portable for play on the go,” addressing a market gap for accessible gaming hardware. The controller represents a more affordable alternative to Microsoft’s standard controller lineup, costing $20 less than the regular Xbox Wireless Controller’s $69.99 price point.

The device is available for pre-order from multiple retailers including Amazon, Walmart, and Xbox’s official store, with a confirmed release date of November 4, 2026. Microsoft has also partnered with Samsung on a bundled offering. The announcement marks a notable shift in Xbox’s controller strategy, introducing size variation to complement the existing standard and premium Elite controller options.
