Ocarina of Time Remake Will Support All Existing Zelda Amiibo With In-Game Item Bonuses
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake for Nintendo Switch 2 is approaching release with substantial new features revealed through Nintendo’s latest overview trailer. The remake will support all existing Zelda amiibo figures, with compatible amiibos providing in-game item bonuses. Two new amiibo figures—Young Link and Young Zelda—have been created specifically for the remake.
The remake introduces significant departures from the original N64 classic, featuring revamped environments, updated character designs, and redesigned combat encounters. A notable new addition is the “Hall of Fallen Foes,” a museum-like mode where players can view statues of defeated enemies and replay boss battles, offering a compelling way to revisit challenging encounters from throughout the adventure.
Additional improvements include streamlined controls optimized for modern platforms, massively overhauled visuals, and enhanced ocarina functionality. Players can now hum tunes or play an actual ocarina with Link mimicking the melodies in real-time. The remake also introduces features such as Zelda Notes to enhance storytelling.
Physical copies will feature special textured foil packaging, with pre-orders currently available. Launching within weeks, the remake represents a substantially redesigned take on one of gaming’s most beloved classics, rather than a simple visual refresh.
