Big Walk developer explains the lack of Xbox version is due to Microsoft’s place on the BDS boycott

Australian indie developer House House has announced it will not release its acclaimed co-operative puzzle game Big Walk on Xbox in support of the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. Microsoft, which owns Xbox, has been designated a priority boycott target by BDS due to its business contracts with the Israeli military and government.

Big Walk achieved massive success since its August 4, 2026 release, selling over one million copies within six days and earning a 91 on Metacritic. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, with critical acclaim including a 4th place ranking for best game of 2026 and numerous 9/10 reviews. However, the lack of an Xbox version has prompted questions from Xbox players.

In a statement, House House acknowledged the decision prevents Xbox players from experiencing the game with friends, noting “This decision means that some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the disappointment we’re causing.” The developer stated the exclusion will remain “until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.”

House House framed the decision as part of broader coordinated action, stating “We’ve made this decision with the belief that meaningful change can be made in the world” and that “coordinated collective action can confront even the most powerful interests.” The studio, known for Untitled Goose Game, said they have been observing the Microsoft boycott since its announcement in 2025.
