CD Projekt Has Officially Begun Work on Project Hadar, but It’s Not in Pre-Production Yet

CD Projekt Red has announced that work has officially begun on Project Hadar, its new intellectual property first revealed in 2022. According to Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski, the studio has completed its “world vision” stage after several years of development, establishing a coherent vision for the game’s world and key elements.

Despite the official start of game development, Project Hadar is not yet in pre-production, indicating the project remains in early conceptual phases. The extended world-building period reflects the scope of the studio’s ambitions for this new IP, representing one of CD Projekt Red’s biggest undertakings to date.

The announcement comes as CD Projekt Red continues work on multiple major projects. The studio is actively developing The Witcher 4, described as its most ambitious title to date, and has confirmed that a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in development, though it remains a considerable distance away. Additionally, the studio is working on Project Sirius, a multiplayer title set in the Witcher universe.

Project Hadar represents CD Projekt Red’s commitment to expanding beyond its established franchises and creating new gaming experiences. The news demonstrates that despite the studio’s extensive portfolio of ongoing projects, new IP development remains a priority with serious foundational work already underway.
