Diablo 5 Director Reveals Shooting Has Begun

Cinematic shooting for Diablo 5 has officially commenced, according to Neil David Carter, Cinematic Director for the Diablo series, who announced the milestone on social media with a studio photograph marked as the ‘first shoot’ for the game.

The announcement builds on Blizzard Entertainment’s official reveal of Diablo 5 during BlizzCon 2026, with the game scheduled to launch in Spring 2029. Diablo 5 will continue the narrative established in Diablo 4, released in 2023, marking the fifth main entry in the franchise that began with the original Diablo in 1996. The reveal signals that active production is underway on what is expected to be a significant installment in one of gaming’s most iconic series.

With cinematic production now in motion, the Spring 2029 release window suggests Blizzard has allocated approximately three years for development. Beyond the confirmation that shooting has started, limited details regarding gameplay mechanics, features, or platform availability have been disclosed. The focus on cinematic elements at this stage indicates the studio is prioritizing the narrative presentation of this continuation.
