JRPG-Inspired Edge of Memories Ducks GTA 6, Delayed to a ‘Quieter Period’ on PS5

French developer Midgar has announced a delay for its JRPG-inspired title Edge of Memories, moving its PS5 release away from November 5th to an unspecified “quieter period” on the platform’s release calendar. The original launch date would have placed the game in direct competition with two major releases: Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 and Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.

The decision to postpone reflects a broader industry trend where smaller and mid-tier studios strategically avoid launching during crowded release windows dominated by AAA blockbusters. By shifting to a less competitive period, Midgar aims to give Edge of Memories better visibility and commercial opportunity, allowing the title to reach audiences without the distraction of simultaneous major releases.

While the game will eventually arrive on PS5, no specific new launch window has been announced. The move demonstrates the calculated approach many developers take regarding release timing—prioritizing market positioning over maintaining a fixed date. This strategy increases the likelihood of the title finding its audience and achieving commercial success without being overshadowed by industry giants.
