How in the world are Intel GPUs still improving so much? The latest driver update claims up to a 31% fps improvement in Resident Evil Requiem
Intel has released WHQL driver version 32.0.101.9150, marking another significant software update for its Arc GPU lineup. According to the release notes, the driver delivers substantial performance improvements across multiple games, demonstrating Intel’s ongoing commitment to optimizing its graphics technology through driver updates.
The most impressive gains appear in Resident Evil Requiem, where the driver claims up to 31% average fps improvement when running at 1080p on medium settings on Core Ultra 2 (Lunar Lake) integrated Arc GPUs. The improvement remains substantial on higher graphical settings, dropping only slightly to 29% when running on high settings at the same resolution. These performance gains suggest significant optimization work for gaming workloads.
Other notable improvements include an 18% fps boost in Assassin’s Creed Shadows at 1080p on high settings, and an 11% improvement in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla under the same conditions. These consistent gains across multiple AAA titles indicate that Intel’s driver team has been working on broader gaming optimizations rather than title-specific tweaks.
The update also extends to Intel’s newest processor generation, with Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) integrated GPUs receiving similar optimizations. While Intel’s Arc GPUs remain smaller players compared to AMD and Nvidia’s dedicated graphics solutions, these regular driver improvements demonstrate the company’s determination to make integrated graphics competitive for gaming.
