Microsoft Edge may ditch Favorites for Bookmarks

Microsoft Edge is set to replace its “Favorites” feature with “Bookmarks” in a future update, moving terminology in line with Google Chrome. The change, currently visible in the Edge Canary version, aims to create consistency across browsers and ease the transition for Chrome users switching to Microsoft’s browser. Leo Varela, who tracks browser updates, discovered the modification in Edge’s experimental build. This terminology shift reflects a broader effort by Microsoft to improve cross-browser compatibility and user familiarity. By adopting Chrome’s “Bookmarks” language, Edge reduces the cognitive load for users migrating from competitors. The change is expected to roll out to stable versions of Edge in due course, pending Microsoft’s further development and testing.
