Monster Hunter Wilds’ fairly generous Prologue Demo comes to Switch 2 next week
Capcom is releasing a Prologue Demo for Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2, launching October 19th ahead of the full game’s December 4th release on the platform. The demo allows players to experience the game’s opening through Chapter 1-3, titled “To the Forest,” providing a substantial preview of the upcoming title.
The demo features offline-only gameplay, meaning players cannot experience the signature four-player cooperative hunts during the trial period. However, it offers comprehensive features including access to all 14 weapon types and the full character creation system, allowing players to thoroughly customize their hunter before committing to the full purchase.
A key feature is save data portability—progress made in the Prologue Demo will transfer directly to the main game upon release, mirroring functionality already available on PC and other console versions. This encourages players to engage with the demo as a meaningful introduction rather than a disposable trial, allowing them to begin their Monster Hunter Wilds journey without restarting character progression.
This demo release strategy provides a “try before you buy” approach for Switch 2 owners, enabling them to assess whether the game suits their preferences while building familiarity with mechanics and systems ahead of the December launch.
