Monster Hunter Wilds’ fairly generous Prologue Demo comes to Switch 2 next week

Capcom announced that a Prologue Demo for Monster Hunter Wilds will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 19th, ahead of the game’s full release on December 4th. The demo is described as “fairly generous,” allowing players to experience the beginning of the game through the start of Chapter 1-3, titled “To the Forest.”

The demo includes comprehensive features for players evaluating the game. Players will have access to all 14 weapon types, enabling them to test different hunting styles before purchase. The character creator is fully available for customization. However, the demo is limited to offline play, meaning players cannot experience the full four-player multiplayer hunting experience during the trial.

A key feature is save data migration from demo to full game—progress made during the prologue will carry over when upgrading to the complete release, consistent with how the demo functions on PC and other platforms. This approach allows players to seamlessly continue their adventure without restarting.

The prologue strategy is a proven method for major releases, providing substantial content to evaluate while building anticipation for launch. Monster Hunter Wilds represents a significant arrival for Switch 2, bringing Capcom’s popular hunting franchise to Nintendo’s latest hardware.
