Ubisoft to reduce workforce across Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Mainz as part of “proposed voluntary departure plan”
Ubisoft has announced plans to reduce its German workforce by approximately 100 employees across three studios as part of a proposed voluntary departure plan. The affected locations are Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Berlin, and Ubisoft Mainz. Discussions regarding the restructuring plan were initiated with the Works Council representing staff at the studios last week.
According to a Ubisoft representative, the voluntary departure plan is “the primary measure being proposed to support the intended organisational changes.” The company indicates these cuts are intended to “best position [its] German studios for the future,” though specific reasoning for the reductions was not detailed in the announcement.
Ubisoft Mainz, which serves as the lead development studio for the Anno franchise, is among the three locations affected by the proposed workforce reductions. The voluntary departure approach allows employees to opt to leave the company, though Ubisoft has not yet disclosed specific details regarding severance packages or implementation timelines for the departures.
