Ubisoft to reduce workforce across Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Mainz as part of “proposed voluntary departure plan”
Ubisoft plans to reduce its German workforce by approximately 100 employees across three studios—Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Mainz—through a proposed voluntary departure plan. The company initiated formal discussions with the Works Council representing staff last week to implement the restructuring.
According to Ubisoft representatives, the voluntary redundancy scheme is the primary measure proposed to support necessary “organisational changes” aimed at “best positioning [its] German studios for the future.” The initiative comes as part of broader restructuring efforts within the publisher as it navigates changing market conditions.
Ubisoft Mainz, which leads development of the Anno game series, is among the affected studios. The voluntary nature of the departures suggests the company will offer severance packages or exit incentives rather than implementing mandatory layoffs, though final terms remain undisclosed pending further Works Council discussions.
