Analogue is reviving its Mega SG and Super Nt consoles, and they’ll play all your old Sega and Nintendo cartridges with some modern enhancements
Analogue has announced upgraded versions of its retro gaming consoles, the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+, designed to play original Nintendo SNES and Sega Genesis cartridges with modern enhancements. These revised editions represent improvements over the company’s original Super Nt (2018) and Mega Sg (2019) models.
The new consoles feature custom-designed FPGA processors that accurately recreate the original hardware’s functionality without relying on emulation. Analogue claims the processors deliver zero-lag performance, perfect accuracy, and 1080p output optimized for 2D gaming. The company notes the FPGA design draws from over a decade of development work.
Beyond the core technology, the updated consoles offer several quality-of-life improvements. Both feature reworked industrial designs, built-in wireless connectivity for controllers and accessories, and new USB-C and USB-A ports for expanded connectivity options. These additions make the consoles more convenient for modern setups while maintaining compatibility with classic cartridge libraries.
Unlike Analogue’s higher-end Analogue 3D console, which supports 4K output for Nintendo 64 games, the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ are designed to output at 1080p. The company emphasizes these consoles don’t use emulation but instead use purpose-built hardware to deliver authentic gameplay experiences.
Pre-orders for both revised consoles begin next week. The release reflects continued consumer interest in retro gaming and preservation of classic console libraries, as well as Analogue’s position as a leading manufacturer of high-quality retro gaming hardware.
