Apparent Leaked Footage Shows Canceled Assassin’s Creed Game Set in Qin Dynasty China

Alleged leaked footage has surfaced online showing a prototype of a cancelled Assassin’s Creed game, according to reports by MP1st. The unreleased title, known as “Assassin’s Creed Destiny,” was set in ancient China during the Qin Dynasty’s transition to the Han Dynasty around 206 BCE, and reportedly would have focused on Liu Bang’s rise to power during this period of civil conflict.

Destiny was a separate project from Assassin’s Creed Jade, Ubisoft’s mobile game also set in ancient China. Unlike Jade’s mobile focus, Destiny was being developed for PC and modern consoles as a full-scale open-world Assassin’s Creed experience featuring distinctive gameplay elements like a fancy umbrella weapon. The prototype footage was discovered in developer portfolios, revealing substantial in-development assets with console-quality graphics.

According to the reports, the game was being developed by TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, in partnership with Ubisoft. The specific reasons for the cancellation remain unclear. The emergence of this prototype footage highlights Ubisoft’s multiple concurrent projects within the Assassin’s Creed franchise targeting different platforms and markets.
