Minecraft Bedrock Edition is running on macOS with Windows crossplay

A fan-made project called Blockintosh is bringing Minecraft Bedrock Edition to macOS with full Windows crossplay functionality, filling a long-standing gap in the game’s multiplatform availability. Despite its massive popularity, Bedrock Edition has remained unavailable on Mac and Linux—two notable absences that contrast sharply with its presence on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows.

The discrepancy is particularly striking since Minecraft Java Edition has been available on macOS for years. Blockintosh now enables Apple Silicon Mac users to run Bedrock Edition with cross-platform play support, allowing Mac players to finally join multiplayer sessions with Windows users—functionality previously impossible for Mac gamers.

This community-led initiative highlights how fan projects address platform gaps that major publishers overlook. While Mojang and Microsoft have maintained Bedrock Edition across numerous platforms, their decision to exclude macOS has effectively locked an entire user base out of the more modern Bedrock version, leaving creative community solutions as the only path to parity.
