Call Of Duty: MW4’s Campaign Launches Today, Please Don’t Spoil It For Others

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s campaign launched in early access on October 16, 2026, for digital preorder customers across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. The campaign became available at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. The full game releases on October 23, with DMZ extraction mode launching in early access on October 20.

Developer Infinity Ward issued a statement urging players not to spoil the story for others. The campaign serves as the “epic conclusion” to the rebooted Modern Warfare series that began in 2019, completing the story arc featuring Captain Price and Task Force 141.

Infinity Ward has returned the campaign to a traditional, mostly linear design after recent entries strayed with open-world missions. Modern Warfare 3 in particular received criticism for weak storytelling and underperforming open-world content. Modern Warfare 4 features only one open-world mission, which reviewers found more engaging than previous attempts.

The campaign takes approximately eight hours to complete on normal difficulty—notably longer than recent Call of Duty titles, which typically average 5-6 hours. Players can unlock rewards throughout their playthrough.

Early reviews praise the campaign as satisfying and well-crafted, with some suggesting it’s the best Call of Duty campaign in years. The consensus indicates the story delivers an engaging conclusion that benefits from the developer’s return to established design fundamentals.

The game launches on Switch 2, though the handheld version experiences reduced graphical performance compared to other platforms. All versions support customizable controller layouts, sensitivity settings, and audio configuration options.
