Nvidia App Update Will Let AI Agents Tune Your Graphics Card, but Some Users are Warning to Turn It Off

Nvidia released App version 11.0.9.565 on October 13, introducing a new feature that allows AI agents to control graphics settings through a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. The update enables compatible AI assistants—including Hermes, OpenClaw, and Perplexity—to optimize game settings, enable gameplay recording via Shadowplay, and manage other graphics configurations through natural-language requests, all without manual user intervention.

The feature has generated user concerns because it is enabled by default in the update. This means that unless users actively disable the toggle, their graphics card settings could be modified by connected AI agents without explicit action for each change. The feature allows AI assistants to view installed games and automatically apply what it considers optimal settings.

The update aligns with Nvidia’s broader push into AI-driven computing, following the recent launch of RTX Spark, a new chipset designed specifically for “Agentic laptops”—devices built around AI agent capabilities. While Nvidia’s implementation of MCP for graphics control represents an efficiency feature for users who want AI-assisted optimization, the default-enabled status has prompted users to manually disable the setting if they prefer to maintain direct control over their graphics configuration.
