Windows 11 is getting these 9 useful improvements in October 2026
Microsoft has begun rolling out nine new improvements to Windows 11 through its Insider Program in early October 2026. The company released multiple preview builds across different channels, introducing several notable features and enhancements to the operating system.
Among the new additions is the first preview of a redesigned Windows Search experience, which modernizes one of the system’s core features. Microsoft also introduced new Battery widgets, providing users with enhanced monitoring of their device’s power status. The company revealed a new sanitization option for the Cloud Rebuild feature, allowing users to securely wipe their hard drives when rebuilding their systems.
Additional improvements target frequently-used applications and functions. File Explorer received updates, while the Share functionality was also enhanced for better usability and performance. The updates rolled out across multiple Insider channels, including the Experimental channel (builds 28120.3181, 26340.9616, 26340.9596, 28120.3151, 29683, 29680) and the Beta channel (build 2622). These gradual releases allow Microsoft to gather feedback from early adopters before broader public deployment.
