Gameplay footage emerges of reportedly cancelled Assassin’s Creed game Destiny

Gameplay footage from a cancelled Assassin’s Creed title has surfaced online, providing the first look at Assassin’s Creed Destiny, a game reportedly in development at TiMi Studio Group. The clips, sourced from portfolios of former developers, showcase a prototype built in February 2025 and reveal the game was set in ancient China around 206 BCE—nine years after the events of Assassin’s Creed Jade, the mobile AC title TiMi also worked on.

The footage demonstrates classic Assassin’s Creed mechanics including stealth-based kills and the series’ signature “leap of faith” maneuver. A distinctive addition was a spinning umbrella weapon, fitting the ancient Chinese setting. According to the leaked materials, the main campaign featured a female assassin infiltrating a sacred palace under siege by the forces of warlord Xiang Yu.

The emergence of Destiny’s gameplay marks another instance of cancelled game content surfacing through developer portfolios—a growing trend in game preservation as studios face cancellations due to shifting business priorities or corporate restructuring. TiMi Studio Group, owned by Chinese tech giant Tencent, has become known for mobile game development, particularly within the Assassin’s Creed franchise following Jade’s launch.

The reason for Destiny’s cancellation remains unclear, though industry shifts toward live-service titles and mobile-first strategies at major publishers have impacted traditional console and PC game development pipelines. The leaked footage provides fans with a rare glimpse into unreleased game content and the creative work lost when projects are shelved.
