Sega pulls Total War: Shogun 2 - Complete Edition from sale amid AI accusations, admitting it has “fallen short”
Sega and Creative Assembly have announced they are temporarily removing Total War: Shogun 2 - Complete Edition from sale just days after its release, following widespread criticism and AI-related concerns. In a statement posted to social media, the companies acknowledged that the release “has fallen short of both your expectations and our own standards,” and committed to addressing the issues that have prompted the pullback.
The companies stated they have reviewed community feedback, comments, and reviews, agreeing that “the current experience is not where it needs to be.” As part of their response, Sega and Creative Assembly are working with platform holders to remove the Complete Edition from storefronts while they investigate the underlying problems. The original version of Total War: Shogun 2 will be reinstated in the interim.
Existing customers who have already purchased the Complete Edition will retain access to and be able to continue playing their copies during this investigation period. The pullback represents a significant acknowledgment from the publisher and developer that the release did not meet quality standards, with the title’s removal from sale serving as a rare public admission of failure in the immediate post-launch period.
