Marvel Rivals Toughens Penalties for Toxic Chat
Marvel Rivals has announced stricter moderation policies targeting toxic behavior in the game’s text and voice chat systems. Announced on October 15 through a social media post, the changes introduce a tiered penalty system that considers the nature, severity, and violation history of each offense.
Under the new framework, players with verified speech violations will face disciplinary action proportional to their offense. The developer emphasized that it will enforce “significantly harsher penalties” for severe violations or players with repeated infractions, signaling a progressive enforcement model that becomes stricter for repeat offenders.
To support these policy changes, NetEase has launched a dedicated Moderation Policy page within the game. The company stated that the page aims to help players better understand the rules governing in-game speech and how moderation mechanics function. This transparency initiative suggests NetEase wants to ensure players understand community standards before facing penalties, reflecting broader industry efforts to maintain healthier online communities in competitive multiplayer games.
