Windows 11’s Search overhaul is coming fast — here’s what you really need to know
Microsoft is undertaking a significant overhaul of Windows Search in Windows 11, aiming to make the feature faster, more accurate, and more useful than before. The redesigned search experience extends beyond its traditional function of locating apps, files, and settings, enabling users to perform common tasks directly from the Taskbar.
Key improvements in the new Windows Search include the addition of file previews, richer web search results, and integration with Copilot. These enhancements are designed to streamline user workflows and provide more relevant information at a glance.
The redesigned search experience is currently in development, with a preview version already available to participants in the Windows Insider Program. Microsoft has indicated that additional features will be rolled out throughout the remainder of the year. A more comprehensive integration with the Start menu is planned for 2027, suggesting a phased approach to the search experience modernization.
