Dying Light: The Beast is Finished, and Players Expect Too Much: Techland CEO’s AMA Goes South

Techland has announced that no new content is planned for Dying Light: The Beast going forward. The title, which launched as a standalone release in September 2025 after expanding beyond its original scope as a Dying Light 2: Stay Human expansion, received critical acclaim with perfect review scores. However, during a Discord AMA marking the game’s first anniversary, CEO Paweł Marchewka confirmed the studio would not pursue further development for The Beast, stating the project “hasn’t worked as well for us as we hoped.”

The decision suggests the standalone spin-off underperformed commercially or strategically relative to developer expectations despite its critical reception. The AMA itself reportedly became contentious, with Marchewka addressing concerns from dedicated players in the Dying Light community who had invested in the title since launch.
