Jobs digest: moves and promotions at Microsoft, Skydance, Apple, Google, Scopely, Supercell and more
A jobs digest covering executive appointments across major gaming and entertainment companies reveals significant leadership changes in the sector. Maria Angelidou-Smith has been appointed as the new CEO of Mojang and Minecraft at Microsoft, marking a strategic leadership transition. She brings substantial experience from her previous role as chief product officer at Reddit, where she oversaw product strategy and development. This appointment reflects Microsoft’s continued investment in and development of its gaming portfolio following its landmark acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
In a separate but equally significant move, Bobby Kotick, the former CEO of Activision Blizzard, has joined the board of directors at Skydance Corp. Kotick departed from Activision Blizzard at the end of 2023 in the aftermath of Microsoft’s acquisition of the company. His appointment to Skydance’s board is particularly notable given Skydance’s prominent role in controlling major entertainment properties including Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. This positioning places Kotick within one of the entertainment industry’s most significant conglomerates.
