Pokémon Skateboards Officially Launch, and Scalpers Are Already Buying Them Up
Santa Cruz unveiled a Pokémon-themed skateboard blind bag collection on October 17, featuring illustrated decks based on artwork from the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The lineup includes 30 different designs showcasing iconic cards like the base-set Charizard alongside modern cards such as “Moonbreon” from Evolving Skies. The collection’s centerpiece comprises three ultra-rare “chase” golden foil variants, with only 500 of these exclusive designs produced worldwide.
The skateboard designs move beyond simple card reproductions, expanding the artwork to capture each Pokémon’s elemental essence. The Blastoise deck, for example, incorporates flowing water waves that enhance the visual composition beyond the original card illustration.
Despite limited retail availability, the product has already attracted scalper attention, making boards difficult to find in stores. The convergence of limited quantities, exclusive variants, and crossover appeal between skateboard and Pokémon collecting communities has created high resale demand, establishing a pattern common to other limited-edition collectible releases.
