Two entire pallets of RTX 5090s have ‘gone missing’ from a Brazilian airport—$495,000 worth of unobtanium graphics cards now presumably at large
Two pallets containing RTX 5090 graphics cards—valued at approximately $495,000—have gone missing from Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. The shipment, consisting of Zotac GPUs, was destined for Oderço, a Brazilian electronics distributor with over 38 years of operational history.
According to an Instagram post from Oderço, the graphics cards arrived at the airport but subsequently vanished before retrieval. CEO Oderço Matos emphasized the unprecedented nature of the incident, stating that in the company’s decades-long history, they had never encountered such a situation and vowed not to remain silent about the disappearance.
The missing cards underscore the intense scarcity of RTX 5090 graphics cards in the current market. These GPUs represent some of the most sought-after hardware available, with global stock virtually depleted. This makes the missing shipment particularly significant both in monetary terms and broader market impact.
The circumstances surrounding the disappearance remain unclear, though the incident raises serious concerns about supply chain security for high-value technology shipments. Oderço’s public announcement appears designed to draw attention to the missing inventory, potentially aiding recovery efforts or detection if the cards surface elsewhere.
Given the extreme scarcity of RTX 5090s, the reappearance of two full pallets on secondary markets could indicate black market activity, making this an issue of interest not only to the distributor but to retailers and the GPU market worldwide.
