League of Legends Mel Midscope Rework Removes Her Reflect
Riot Games has announced a substantial midscope update for League of Legends champion Mel, addressing ongoing balance issues that emerged even after an earlier rework attempt in February 2026. The primary change involves removing the projectile reflection mechanic from her W Rebuttal ability, a core component of her defensive toolkit.
According to Riot’s official dev update, the company determined that “it became impossible to balance her existing kit” with the reflect mechanic in place. The persistent high ban rate and stable win rate made achieving proper balance impossible—players felt they lacked a reasonable path to overcome her in matches.
This marks the second significant balance intervention for Mel in several months, indicating that the champion’s kit has fundamental design issues preventing healthy competitive play. Rather than making incremental adjustments as with the previous rework, Riot has opted for more drastic structural changes to the ability itself. By removing the reflect property entirely, the developer aims to open up new tuning possibilities that allow Mel to exist at a balanced win rate.
