Police Confirm Nearly $1 Million Worth of Trading Cards Stolen in PSA FedEx Truck Heist

In mid-October, over 200 packages of graded collectible trading cards were stolen from a FedEx delivery truck parked outside the Santa Ana, California headquarters of PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator), one of the world’s largest third-party card grading services. The theft has been valued at approximately $963,000, though police indicate this figure could increase as PSA continues confirming which specific cards were included in the stolen shipment.

The packages were en route back to their owners after being graded and authenticated by PSA. The theft went viral among the collector community after PSA notified affected customers of the loss. Prominent collector SKY-B reported that over $100,000 worth of their personal collection was among the stolen packages—cards they had hand-delivered to PSA at a card show for grading.

In response, PSA has committed to compensating affected collectors based on the fair market value of their lost items, up to the Maximum Insured Value each customer had selected for their shipment. The Santa Ana Police Department is investigating the theft. The incident highlights the risks of shipping valuable collectibles and raises questions about security measures for high-value goods in transit.
