Subnautica 2 is heading for ‘Early access 2.0,’ which brings ‘one of our scariest regions we’ve ever done’
Subnautica 2, the popular underwater exploration game currently in early access, is preparing for its next major phase of development. Unknown Worlds Entertainment announced “Early Access 2.0,” which the studio describes as its most substantial update since the game’s launch in May.
Creative director Anthony Gallegos revealed the plans in the first installment of a new vlog series, detailing what players can expect from the upcoming update. The EA 2.0 release will introduce a complete new playable region featuring several distinct new biomes, significantly expanding the game’s explorable environments and providing fresh territories for exploration.
Beyond new areas, the update will bring substantial story content additions. These narrative elements will further develop the ongoing saga of the colonists aboard the ship Cicada and introduce encounters with other mysterious beings within the game’s universe. Gallegos described the new region as “one of our scariest regions we’ve ever done,” promising an intense and atmospheric experience for players venturing into these new depths.
The update represents Unknown Worlds’ commitment to expanding Subnautica 2 during its early access period, building on the franchise’s established reputation for immersive underwater exploration and adventure gameplay.
