Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige 20th Anniversary Re-Release Includes 70mm and IMAX
Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed 2006 thriller “The Prestige” is returning to theaters on January 29, 2027, for a special 20th anniversary re-release. Disney announced the theatrical comeback exactly 20 years after the film’s original October 20, 2006 release date.
The re-release marks a historic moment for the film, as it will be presented in multiple formats for the first time: 70mm film and IMAX, alongside traditional 35mm and Digital 2D presentations. This is particularly significant as the film has never been shown in IMAX or 70mm since its initial theatrical run.
Nolan expressed enthusiasm about the occasion, stating: “I’m very excited to bring ‘The Prestige’ back to the big screen, and particularly thrilled to offer audiences the chance to see it on 70mm film, and on IMAX for the first time.”
Starring Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as rival magicians, “The Prestige” is a twist-filled mystery thriller that has maintained its status as one of Nolan’s most acclaimed works. The re-release provides audiences with an opportunity to experience the intricately plotted film on premium large-format screens, combining classic film preservation with modern exhibition technology.
