Don’t get hit with the BIOS update hammer for COD MW4 like my colleagues - here’s how to ensure you can play multiplayer and DMZ
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is launching on PC this Friday with strict technical requirements for online play. Activision has mandated that players must have TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) and Secure Boot enabled to access any online game modes, including multiplayer and DMZ.
The requirements differ by processor manufacturer: Intel systems require an updated Platform Trust Technology (PTT), while AMD systems need an updated Firmware Trusted Platform Module (fTPM). These are security features at the hardware and BIOS level rather than software settings.
PC Gamer has reported that some of their colleagues have already encountered compatibility issues and needed to perform BIOS updates to meet these requirements ahead of launch. This reveals that not all existing systems meet the new security standards out of the box. The article serves as a PSA advising players to check their system compatibility and perform any necessary BIOS updates before attempting to play online, to avoid being caught off guard after the game releases.
