CD Projekt Red details new Cyberpunk 2077 update - adding dual-wielding, cross-platform mods, Edgerunners story quests, and more

CD Projekt Red is releasing a substantial free update (version 2.5) for Cyberpunk 2077 on October 22, 2026, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch 2 receiving it a few days later. The update coincides with the Netflix premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2.

The update introduces several major features. Dual-wielding becomes playable for the first time, with a new “Double Trouble” perk allowing players to wield pistols and revolvers simultaneously. Cyberware customization has been expanded, enabling players to personalize their augmentations at glamdocs, including mantis blade customization. Cross-platform mod support arrives for consoles—a first for the franchise on PS5, Xbox, and Switch 2—significantly expanding player-created content availability beyond PC.

Edgerunners-specific content includes a new story quest called “Clampdown,” serving as a prequel to the anime’s second season. Players will acquire a five-piece gear set based on the character King from Edgerunners 2. A new radio station features tracks from both seasons of the anime.

Beyond Edgerunners tie-ins, the update adds additional side quests including “Welcome to Paradise!,” which features Night City guided tours narrated by Richard Night, the city’s founder. Technical improvements include FOV sliders for console versions and DLSS 4.5 support. The game also received Xbox Play Anywhere status, enabling play across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and compatible handheld devices.

This marks another major content drop nearly two years after CD Projekt Red claimed development had concluded, demonstrating the studio’s continued commitment to supporting the game despite its infamous 2020 launch.
