DC Reveals Big Wonder Woman Plans for 2027
DC Comics has announced 2027 as the “Year of Wonder,” marking a significant creative shift for the iconic character Wonder Woman. The announcement arrives as writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere’s current run concludes in December, with DC promising an “unforgettable year of stories from celebrated comic book creators.”
Louise Simonson, an accomplished writer known for acclaimed runs on X-Factor, Conan the Barbarian, Power Pack, and The Death of Superman, will take over the series with Wonder Woman #41. She will be paired with artist Cian Tormey for an initial four-issue story arc. Simonson’s appointment brings extensive experience from both Marvel and independent publishers to DC’s flagship Wonder Woman title.
Following Simonson’s arc, writer Stephanie Williams—an Eisner Award nominee—will assume the role for a six-issue run alongside artist Elena Casagrande. Williams brings notable comics credentials, having previously written Wonder Woman stories as well as Marvel’s acclaimed Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur series.
The staggered approach to Wonder Woman’s future demonstrates DC’s strategy of rotating celebrated creators throughout 2027. By assigning experienced writers and artists to consecutive runs, DC appears committed to sustaining reader interest and momentum for the character during the designated year-long initiative.
