David Fincher Cut 60 Pages From Quentin Tarantino’s Cliff Booth Script

Netflix’s upcoming film The Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth continues the story of Brad Pitt’s stuntman character Cliff Booth from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. While Quentin Tarantino penned the screenplay, director David Fincher helmed the project—and made substantial revisions to the script.

Fincher revealed that Tarantino’s initial draft ran 230 pages, which he characterized as “essentially two movies.” The director cut approximately 60 pages from the screenplay—roughly 26% of the original material—to create a more focused final film. This significant editorial process reflects standard Hollywood practice where directors revise screenwriter material during production.

The project represents a notable creative collaboration between two distinct filmmaking sensibilities. Tarantino’s storytelling vision is being shaped by Fincher’s directorial judgment and editorial choices. Netflix has released production images, indicating the film is in advanced post-production stages. The finished work will balance Tarantino’s screenplay foundation with Fincher’s substantial script refinements.
