Halo 3 Looks Like It Could Come To Browsers Via Xbox Labs
Xbox Labs is being teased as a platform that could bring Halo 3 to web browsers. Xbox Chief Technology Officer Scott Van Vliet posted a video on social media that appears to show the classic first-person shooter running inside Microsoft Edge, complete with mouse and keyboard control options visible in the interface.
Van Vliet’s post referenced working on “retro vibes,” though he did not explicitly mention Halo 3. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma was also tagged in related posts, but neither executive directly addressed the Halo 3 appearance in the browser. Instead, both focused on the revival of the Xbox Blades dashboard—a user interface from approximately two decades ago that remains a fan favorite among longtime Xbox users.
The initiative suggests Xbox Labs is exploring ways to bring classic gaming experiences to modern platforms. While Halo 3’s appearance in Edge wasn’t explicitly confirmed by the executives, the video evidence provides a strong hint at the company’s intentions to make legacy titles more accessible through browser technology.
