“AI is a technofascist, anti-human and anti-art project”, says creator of lefty tech satire Future? No Thanks!, before explaining why he used it anyway

Political game developer Paulo Pedercini, creator of studio Molleindustria, has revealed his use of generative AI during development of the ecosocialist satire Future? No Thanks! Despite publicly stating that “AI is a technofascist, anti-human and anti-art project,” Pedercini employed ChatGPT and Claude to assist with the project.

According to Pedercini, generative AI contributed to “a tiny fraction” of the game’s code, specifically in the later stages of development for bug assessment and fixing. The game also incorporates text-to-speech voice acting generated through ElevenLabs software for certain characters, which Pedercini designed as intentional spoofs of artificial intelligence.

The revelation highlights the complex relationship between creators with critical perspectives on AI and pragmatic use of these technologies during production. Pedercini’s approach—simultaneously critiquing AI systems while incorporating them into a work that satirizes technology—reflects broader industry tensions around generative AI’s role in creative development.
