PS6 Reportedly Costs $200 Less to Develop Than Next XBOX Console

Hardware leaker Kepler_L2 reports that manufacturing costs for the PlayStation 6 are now just $200 less than those for Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox Helix, according to recent industry claims. The narrowing gap represents a significant shift from a year prior, when production cost differences between the two consoles were substantially larger.

The PS6 reportedly carries manufacturing costs of approximately $960 in materials, as reported in June, while the next-gen Xbox Helix could cost as much as $1,800 to produce. Despite the $200 gap, both next-generation consoles are expected to carry notably higher price points than current hardware, signaling that the next gaming generation will be expensive for both consumers and manufacturers.

Industry expectations have long suggested that Sony’s PlayStation 6 would be positioned as the leaner, more cost-effective alternative to Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox offering. However, as manufacturing costs continue to fluctuate, these projections remain subject to change before either console reaches the market.
