Sauron Wears the One Ring and Battles the Balrog in New Rings of Power Season 3 Trailer

Prime Video has released a new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3, revealing major developments in the Second Age conflict. The upcoming season, premiering November 11, takes place several years after season 2 at the height of the War of the Elves.

The trailer showcases escalating warfare with glimpses of legendary creatures including the Nazghûl, Mûmakil, and fell beasts. The most significant revelation comes as Sauron dons the One Ring—the instrument that will grant him dominion over all free peoples of Middle-earth. “I see the path to victory so certain,” Sauron declares in the trailer. “I will take my place as a conqueror, a sorcerer. A king.”

The season frames an existential conflict where the free peoples—elves, dwarves, and humans—must choose between submission or resistance against the Dark Lord’s rule. The series, set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, has previously explored how Sauron’s betrayal prompted the great elven smith Celebrimbor to forge the Rings of Power as a countermeasure to Sauron’s secret One Ring.
