Zooming in Windows 11’s Camera app is about to get another upgrade

Microsoft is rolling out a series of enhancements to Windows 11’s Camera app designed to improve the zooming experience for users. The updates, currently being tested through the Windows Insider program, introduce digital zoom functionality that activates when hardware zoom is unavailable on a device’s camera.

These changes represent part of Microsoft’s broader focus on refining the Camera app’s zoom capabilities throughout 2024. The company has prioritized zoom improvements in multiple updates this year, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the camera capture experience on Windows 11. Additionally, Microsoft has been expanding hardware camera support compatibility, with the company beginning tests for support of additional camera models in June.

The Camera app updates are part of a larger effort to improve content creation tools on Windows 11. While Microsoft recently announced a redesigned Photos app aimed at viewing and organizing images and videos, these Camera app improvements target the capture side of the workflow, addressing user needs for better zoom functionality during content creation.
