World of Warcraft: Forever’s beta has been extended, as community members mourn the loss of their hunter pets
World of Warcraft: Forever’s beta has been extended by three days, now running through Friday, October 23 at 10am PT / 1pm ET, following overwhelming community interest. The extension from the original October 20 end date gives players additional time to explore the levels 1-30 experience in Blizzard’s throwback MMO.
To stress-test servers ahead of the full launch next month, Blizzard is hosting an open stress test today that grants temporary access to all World of Warcraft account holders, regardless of whether they purchased special editions or maintain an active subscription. The stress test aims to evaluate server capacity as large numbers of players simultaneously log in to experience the classic-style gameplay.
Following the beta’s closure on Friday, Blizzard will open character name reservations on October 27, allowing players to claim names for up to three characters before the full release. This phased rollout gives the community time to plan their characters while Blizzard prepares for launch.
