Xbox Cloud Gaming Hourly Prices Revealed For Non-Game Pass Members
Microsoft is introducing a new pay-as-you-go option for Xbox Cloud Gaming that allows users without Game Pass subscriptions to purchase cloud playtime directly. The new service, called “Cloud Playtime,” is currently available to Xbox Insiders at introductory pricing, with a broader rollout planned for November 2026.
The service offers three pricing tiers: 10 hours for $3.99, 25 hours for $7.99, and 50 hours for $11.99. Cloud playtime purchases grant access to ad-free cloud gaming with additional benefits including shorter queue times and high-quality streaming. The purchased hours remain available until fully consumed. Microsoft also offers a free, ad-supported cloud gaming option as an alternative.
This move significantly expands Xbox Cloud Gaming’s accessibility beyond Game Pass subscribers. Previously, cloud gaming was primarily bundled with subscriptions, limiting its appeal to casual players seeking flexibility without committing to a subscription service.
Notably, Microsoft is simultaneously implementing hourly limits on Xbox Cloud Gaming for existing Game Pass subscribers beginning in November. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive 15 monthly hours, Premium users will get 10 hours, and Basic subscribers will receive 5 hours, representing a shift from previous unlimited access. The new playtime passes allow subscribers to purchase additional hours beyond these limits.
The introductory pricing language suggests rates may increase after the initial launch phase. The current beta testing with Xbox Insiders provides feedback opportunities before the public rollout, enabling Microsoft to refine the service based on user input.
