Review: Cherry Xtrfy M42V2: The Best Budget Ultra-Light Gaming Mouse
The Cherry Xtrfy M42V2 is a newly released ultra-light gaming mouse that delivers exceptional value at £34/$40. Despite its budget price point, the mouse combines lightweight, comfortable construction with impressive adaptability. It ships with two interchangeable rear shells—a taller design for palm and claw grips, and a flatter alternative for other grip preferences—allowing users to customize the mouse to their individual hand position and style.
What distinguishes the M42V2 in the budget segment is its straightforward, user-friendly design. Unlike many gaming peripherals that demand complex software setup or advanced configuration, the mouse performs effectively straight out of the box without resource-intensive applications. While its internal components don’t feature cutting-edge gaming mouse technology, this limitation proves irrelevant at its price tier.
The M42V2 represents the most accessible entry point into the popular ultra-light gaming mouse category in recent years, combining proven internals, thoughtful dual-shell hardware design, and hassle-free usability. It demonstrates that budget gaming peripherals need not compromise on core functionality or user experience. Cherry Xtrfy, traditionally recognized for keyboards, successfully proves their competence in delivering impressive value in the mouse market.
