After The BioWare Shutdown, Mass Effect Spiritual Successor Exodus Gets A New Look

Following EA’s closure of BioWare and cancellation of Mass Effect 5, Archetype Entertainment—founded by former BioWare veterans Chad Robertson, James Ohlen, and Drew Karpyshyn—has unveiled a redesigned character model for its upcoming sci-fi RPG, Exodus. The studio responded to fan feedback regarding its protagonist, Jun, with a visual overhaul that significantly refreshes the character’s appearance.

The updated Jun model appears noticeably younger and more refined, eliminating the scruffy facial hair from earlier iterations. The redesign features a thinner and more expressive face along with a new, more natural-looking hairstyle. The overall presentation is notably more vibrant compared to the previous design.

This redesign demonstrates Archetype’s responsiveness to community feedback while the game remains in development. With Exodus scheduled to launch in approximately six months on PlayStation 5, the studio continues refining its creative vision. The game positions itself as a spiritual successor to Mass Effect, capitalizing on heightened player interest following the unexpected cessation of the franchise’s official development.
