Saber Interactive CEO Says Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is Performing ‘Extremely Well on PC and Consoles’ with More to Come
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has become a commercial success for Saber Interactive, according to CEO Matthew Karch in a LinkedIn post dated October 19. The game is performing “extremely well on PC and consoles,” marking the first in what Karch describes as a series of releases designed to improve the studio’s game development process.
The visceral horror title’s success comes despite—or arguably because of—its unflinching approach to mature content, including explicit depictions of sex, blood, and gore that stay true to the source material. This approach has proven controversial, with some content creators facing permanent bans from streaming platforms even when attempting to censor their playthroughs.
Karch used the game’s strong performance to advocate for the return of mid-budget AA titles in the industry. He argues that double-A games, which have largely disappeared amid the push toward major AAA productions, are “the future to maintaining growth and momentum” in a turbulent gaming market. The success of Hellraiser: Revival serves as evidence that mid-budget games can thrive alongside bigger-budget competitors, positioning AA releases as a viable strategy for industry sustainability.
