Katana Zero DLC Is Still Coming, And It’s Apparently Freakin’ Huge Now
Askiisoft has confirmed that the long-awaited Katana Zero DLC is still in development and will be substantially larger than previously announced. In an October 22 Bluesky post, studio head Justin Stander revealed that the DLC has expanded to approximately the size of a full sequel. The project will include over 30 new songs in its soundtrack, representing a significant expansion from earlier expectations.
The confirmation comes nearly five years after the last substantial update on the DLC’s progress, which occurred in March 2021. Despite the long gap between announcements, Askiisoft has reaffirmed its commitment to releasing the content, though no timeline or launch date has been provided. The developer’s decision to discuss the DLC’s expanded scope suggests the project may be nearing completion, though no specific release window has been disclosed.
The growth of the DLC from a traditional expansion to sequel-sized content represents a significant shift in scope for what was originally envisioned as supplemental material for the acclaimed 2019 samurai platformer. With over 30 new tracks being composed specifically for the expansion, the audio alone underscores the ambitious scale of the project.
